A friendship started in the theaters, cafes and bars of Damascus. A daily routines, small talks and common interests created some spiritual harmony between three young guys. After playing with so many other friends, friends who have another paths in life now, after traveling and living in exile for a while , Hasan, Sam and Yazan, established the Sham trio in Berlin in 2017 , to play the music they used to play in their former times , to spread the joyful melodies and rhythms , to deliver the spirituality of their culture and the warmth of its presence , the logo was designed and created in Dubai by Bashar Salloum , the shape of the logo is damascene , and written inside with arabic calligraphy the name SHAM , and each letter represents an instrument of the trio , they are the sons of the sun land , they played many concerts around Europe and in Berlin , having the feeling that this project is their way to express their feelings and their language to lead the hearts to the other side , it might be minutes of music , but for them , its piece of their hearts , a piece of their memory , delivered through notes and beats.

Sami Salloum

Sami is drums / percussion player , born inDamascus syria in 1988 , lives currently in Berlin , he started to play darbuka when he was 6 years old , and that was his start with the percussion universe , in high school he started to play with a drum line in scouts group , after a while he got a drums as a gift and started with online lessons , his first band was nabed band , and there he met some other musicians and started to make and participate in other projects around damascus , such as ( fa diez - rumman band - watar trio - sein koma ) with the amazing composer michaela katrinas he played her compositions of contemporary classical music with band called menajiri , he played his music in syria Lebanon germany and the Switzerland . He played drums electric and acoustic and started after a while to play percussion such as cajon , frame drum , riq , darbuka … etc . he believes that the percussion part in the music is made to accompany the melody not to overcome it , it should be simple and elegant , giving the space to the musical insturments to fill the atmosphere , percussion for him is the ground on which the musicians can improvise , dance and create the aroma of the art . percussion gave him a reacher experience adapting to the different kinds of music going from flamenco to arabic rythems within the same piece and a better understanding on how sound effects can give the audience a better vision on the whole jorney , and can on stage make the music more attractive and close to reality , sam is so sensible and experienced on which instruments he should use in the pieces he performs , and that is his main feature , his strength point .

Al Hasan Al Nour

Hasan is a kanoun player , born in damascus 1988 , lives also in berlin germany , his musical life started at the age of 8 with the famous teacher kasim khalife , learned kanoon and played with some bands in syria at his childhood , in high school he started to play keyboard and gained some experience creating music , joined the band nabed in damascus in 2014 after some time away from music , and for him it was a reborn again , he played kanoon with the band for three years and ended up conducting it , he played in the same time with some other projects and bands such as ( solos - watar trio - ali kholuki’s band - country for syria - banda internationale ) what really makes hime so special on the instrument is that he has a great deal translating his feelings through his music , with 75 triple strings its a super unique instrument that requires a special technics and methods , and he is so talented playing on it rhythms , melodies , solos , which makes him the main player connecting the percussion and clarinet together , holding the structure of the pieces , hasan also is a doctor , studied medicine in damascus and in germany to practice it , hasan composed the very first piece of the project and the ability he has to play so many types of music also brings the trio’s music to another level , he believes that music is one of the most important things in life , you can’t scale how much it worth , you can only feel it , or in other words its a life style , he has a natural talent , a very wild one , uncensored one , and clear mind in the same time … he has a passport to every ones heart his instrument and the way he makes it sing , he is in germany to specialize in neurology but we always say that he knows how to treat hearts

Yazan Al Sabbagh

Yazan plays clarinet , born in damascus in 1993 , lives for now in berlin , started his journey with music on the piano , after 4 years he fell in love with the clarinet , started to follow his passion in the country side of damascus , after high school yazan became a student in the higher institute of music in damascus , yazan was one of the most remarkable musicians in the scene , he established a project called ( zarkashe band ) with some friends and teachers in the institute , it was a contemporary band that performs his own compositions and pieces from the arabic heritage , yazan also played with soul trio , and was a solo guest with the syrian symphony so many times , yazan Alsabbag is a composer and music producer with a long list of songs for so many arabic singers , for now yazan is a student in Barenboim said academy , looking forward to enhance his skills , and already has some projects going on in germany such as pulse project with the famous pop academy in Mannheim , yazan’s strength comes from the variety of stiles he can manage to perform , while the people in europe know clarinet as a classical instrument yazan tame the instrument to play arabic , Turkish , flamenco , balkan , jazz , in addition of classic music , and in order to take the experience of hearing him to another level , yazan also plays an outstanding instrument called doduk , its an armenian instrument , with deep voice and a very sad yet beautiful peach , yazan is The magician of the band , he blows in his clarinet , and the wind coming out of it will take your souls to the place he desire , he is the moments maker and the one stands in the first row always , a son of musical family and famous as one Of the best musicians in syria .
